Therapy

The right fit matters more perhaps even more than methods, and you can only really tell after meeting.

I offer an initial consultation so we can both get a sense of whether this feels workable, before either of us commits further.

Weekly sessions are typical, particularly at the start, because consistency helps the work develop. Some clients move to fortnightly later on. We can discuss what’s realistic for you.

Once a client has had several sessions we are also able to accommodate ad-hoc bookings. This works great for those that need to have a ‘maintenance’ session or would like to re-connect without the commitment of ongoing sessions.

About Working Together

Yes. A lot of people start therapy from exactly that place. Sometimes the stuckness is the material.

Change in therapy is often gradual and not always obvious from the inside. I’ll check in with you periodically about how you’re finding the work, and you’re welcome to raise it at any point rather than waiting for a formal review. Therapy isn’t always easy, often presents challenges and often this is where there is a sign that the therapy has connected with a part of you that may benefit from a closer look.

Yes. I’d usually encourage working towards an ending or at least having an ending session rather than stopping abruptly, since how something ends is often meaningful in itself, but ultimately your autonomy and free-agency are paramount.

Yes. If you know someone who might benefit from therapy, I’m happy to be thought of as someone you’d like to refer them to.

There are a few things worth being aware of if you do.

I’ll need the person you refer to know that I already see someone connected to them, and I’ll ask for their agreement to proceed on that basis.

Whatever either of you brings into the room stays entirely separate, I won’t reference one client’s material with another, even indirectly.

If the two of you are partners, I wouldn’t take you on as separate individual clients, instead this would fall under couples therapy, with its own separate agreement covering how that work is structured and what confidentiality looks like within it.

For very close family members or people in daily contact, I may suggest another therapist instead, simply because the overlap can make the work harder for both of you.

Outside of that, most referrals are entirely workable and I’m happy to discuss any specifics before you pass my details on.

Please get in touch to enquire about specific slot availability. We operate a short waiting list for those that need a slot that isn’t currently available.

You can self-book for our initial call using this button. It will show you our availability for a brief 15 minute call/video call where we will discuss what you are looking for and whether we are a match.

Alternatively please use the form on our Contact page to get in touch.

I require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Because that time is reserved exclusively for you, sessions cancelled with less notice will incur the full fee. This helps me maintain a consistent schedule for all my clients.

The session will still end at the scheduled time, so it’s worth building in a few minutes either side, particularly for online sessions where technical issues can eat into the time.

Generally I suggest making sure you have at least half an hour of time before and after sessions to settle in and to re-transition back into the rest of your day, having given yourself some time to re-centre and relax.

A private, quiet space and a stable internet connection. I’ll send a link ahead of each session.

Please ensure that you have notifications disabled on your devices whilst in session and that you won’t be disturbed.

The confidentiality of the session itself is the same as in person. What matters most is that you have a space where you won’t be overheard and won’t be interrupted.

I will make sure the space I work from is secure and private.

No. We believe in the autonomy of our clients to choose what’s best for them. We encourage you to have 4-6 sessions to begin with to ‘feel out’ the process and make an informed decision. But if you feel like you need one or two sessions to work with a specific targeted issue or goal that is more than welcome too.
